New Registered Competent Person Electrical Mark

Posted: 22 May 2014

From 30th June 2014 a new Registered Competent Person Electrical mark will be launched for electricians in England and Wales.

The Registered Competent Person Electrical mark and website have been developed by all DCLG authorised full scope electrical Competent Person Scheme operators. This newly anticipated mark and website will ensure that consumers find it easier than ever to find and identify register and competent electricians.

The mark combines the Registered Competent Electrical logo, an instantly recognisable house and plug socket design, with the Competent Person Scheme operator logo of the installer who displays it. This will ensure consumers have just one intuitive symbol to recognise but are still able to access the robust support, such as the work quality guarantee, available from individual scheme operators.

All full scope Part P registered electricians in England and Wales will be listed on the new register by their scheme operator and will be entitled and encouraged to use the new mark from the 30th June 2014, completely free of charge.

As a consumer focussed activity, the register will not include electrical contractors who solely carry out commercial or industrial work.
